The New Normal

A few weeks ago I heard someone bring up a simple, but incredible point. I was at a bible study and a girl said something about trying to get back to "normal" after a trial. And this one woman said something so poignant. She said, " Perhaps we aren't supposed to get back to normal."

Wow. I know that sounds simple, but really... that's pretty amazing! When we go through trials in life we are always trying to return to the way things were, longing for the things that we used to have and the people we used to be. But when troubles come our way, maybe we should spend less time trying to return to the norm and more time embracing the new people that Christ has aided us in becoming.

I know that was short today, but I hope that is at least a little encouraging if you are going through a storm in your life right now. I know it helped me.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

  1. Great post. Found you on bloglovin' and I am now following you. Can't wait to keep reading!

    1. Thank you! So glad to have you following along!

  2. So beautiful and so true. I work as a counsellor and one of the most healthy moments in a person's healing is often when they give up on trying to go back to "how things were before". I'd never really stopped to think about it in terms of that being God's way with all things. We're always going forward. Thank you for sharing this.
