Giving Up Control

So I have a type-a  personality. Organized, ducks in a row, figure it out kind of a girl. I find myself constantly trying to do things according to the way I think they should be done. And then usually, it takes a small knock upside the head to remember I'm not in control.

Actually, I was washing dishes tonight when it came to me. If God wants something in my life to work out in a certain way, it will! I don't have to worry about making things happen. And if it isn't meant to be, he'll take care of that to. It's a matter of me letting go of the control and giving it to God. He know the plan for my life, and He will work it out in His timing.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path."

  1. That passage is one of my favorites from Proverbs. I have to constantly be reminding myself of that verse when things aren't going the way "I planned". I agree it's hard sometimes, but God is always in control, as you so aptly put it.

  2. What a great reminder! I expel so much of my energy trying to figure things out or worrying about how things will work out that I forget to trust Him. Nothing in my life is a surprise to God.
    Thanks, Alex!

  3. I tend to think in the same sort of way! It is great how God reminds us throughout our day of things!

    1. Hey Aino! That's the wonderful thing about God- is that it's not a religion, but a relationship. He's so faithful to keep his promises and, because Jesus died for our sins, we can come and talk to him and have a personal relationship with him all of the time! That's what really sets Christianity apart from other religions- I know that I am SO grateful for God's grace- we are very fortunate to have a Heavenly father who is so loving <3 Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!

  7. I love that verse! I always need a reality check to calm down and let God guidey future. To be a young teenager at my age, I'm constantly thinking of highschool, college, graduation, what i want to be when i grow up, grades, and it's stressful. But this post reminded me it's in God's hands :). Thank You....for the reminder of course... :)

    1. Great insight Ony! Especially being a student, it's important to keep this outlook because school comes with so much pressure, academically, socially and everything in between. But as long as we can keep perspective that God is in control, everything will fall into place the way He wants it to :)
